Design Trends For 2020.

the word on the street…

In the interior design world, styles and trends are constantly changing, and we are seeing new styles at the gift show! As new styles are explored and old trends are revised, we always find ourselves inspired and encouraged to implement new concepts. The most important thing when decorating your home is that you love it, regardless of what trends may be most popular, and we will always stand by this. (Although we may or may not push you out of your comfort zones at times!) Here at Louisa Jane, we are tackling this new year with renewed anticipation of where it will take us. Here are three of the most popular trends we are seeing coming into 2020:

Navy and Hunter Green

Neutrals have long taken their place in the design world, and in many ways, are here to stay. This year we will be seeing those soft, light neutrals contrasted with navy blue and hunter green! These two colors provide depth and interest to the neutral colors and create a relaxing space, as they bring in some effects of nature. As home design continues to lean more towards embracing sustainability and economically friendly living, this color palette only grows in popularity. These earth tones will be widely embraced in this coming year, and we couldn’t be more excited about it!

Mixed Metals

The year 2020 brings with it a style that is referred to as “laid-back luxury.” We are seeing a new style in homes that embraces a more eclectic, yet still purposeful, design. This is where mixed metals, which at one time would have crossed major lines in the design world, take the stage. The goal is an inviting and lived-in feel – not everything is perfectly matched. You might see copper, silver, and gold all in one kitchen or bathroom with some leather as well. We love this look, as well as the idea of intentional mismatching in general!

Velvet

This is one of our favorite current trends! Designers have been playing with velvet in recent years, but in 2020, we are looking to see it integrated much more! A style that has been emerging recently is the unashamedly feminine – incorporating pastel pink, lots of gold, and even the occasional floral print wallpaper. Velvet is the perfect way to bring that feminine and warm touch into a space, providing an air of luxury and comfort. Prepare to see velvet sofas stealing the show in 2020!

What are some of your favorite trends currently? What is a past trend that you would love to see revisited in 2020? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

We hope that you all have had an amazing start to your 2020!
