Makeover in Morton.

Another amazing transformation, and another wonderful client!

When this amazing client came to LJ looking for help in remodeling the main floor of her home, of course we said yes! Her goals were to update the look of the space in general, as well as to add a mudroom area with enclosed doors to “hide the mess,” and to increase the kitchen footprint.

We wound up removing the walls between the existing mudroom/kitchen, which allowed the following:

  • a larger kitchen
  • a new, longer island with a stained finish
  • a new pantry cabinet
  • new lockers with doors

We then added molding to her existing cabinetry, and then painted all of them for a fresh, new look that we LOVE!

New quartz countertops, plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures and cabinet hardware gave the kitchen a total transformation. We also added a super fun painted brick backsplash for the casual family-friendly feel. We could not be happier with the result!

In the living area, we also gave the fireplace a makeover with striking Iron Ore paint – I love the bold accent it brings! Sometimes, the simplest changes bring the biggest impact.

For the powder bath, we built a floating vanity and added shiplap detail to the back wall. One thing we love about remodeling is the way it reminds us that there is potential everywhere! This powder room took on a totally new identity with just a few swaps, including the mirror, faucets, lights, etc.

New light fixtures and hardwood flooring were installed throughout the main level, and everything was freshly painted. Those two changes alone really freshened up the entire space. We cannot over-emphasize the power of a good hardwood floor! The walls/trim/panel molding is all painted the same soft color, and we LOVE how bright and open it makes everything feel.  The office alone is a huge transformation, and the bulk of that was simply painting. Paint is a game changer.

For finishing touches, we added a new awesome sofa and accent pillows – we LOVE accent pillows around here! We also added a super sharp leather topped coffee table with some fun accents to finish it off.

It was such a pleasure working with this sweet client. We have loved each step of the journey – from planning/dreaming, to seeing it all begin to take shape, to the finishing touches in the end. This house is simply lovely, and we are honored to be a part of the transformation process. Here’s to many wonderful memories made here!
